Lleo Hotel

If location was everything then this hotel would rate 5 out of 5. Unfortunately although it is situated only a 2 minute walk from La Rambla and Plaza Catalunya it lacks that certain something. Staff although professional and helpful were not over friendly. Our room was on the second floor next to an extremely noisy and creaky lift. The only natural limited daylight in the room is as a result of a purpose built shaft (of which we were at the bottom) and as a result the room itself was very small, dark and hot (although there is air conditioning - albeit quite noisy). The room itself was clean but appeared slightly tired in appearance. Breakfast was adequate and is served until midday - we would recommend you eat early as the hot food sits there all morning and does tend to get cold.
On a positive note the Lleo Hotel is, in terms of it's location a good base for seeing Barcelona. The Airobus from the aiport stops at the Plaza Catalunya, a 2 minute walk away. We bought a 2 day pass for the bus touristic, which also leaves from the Plaza Catalunya. This pass takes you on two routes (north and south) and stops at all the places of interest in the city. You can use your pass as many times as you wish during that time and it really did prove good value for money. The pass also comes with a book of discount vouchers for a number of the city's attractions. In terms of good food Barcelona offers great value for money. We found two extremely good restaurants in the Plaza Reial (left hand side, two thirds of the way down La Rambla when walking towards the port). The food was both of high quality and brilliant value for money - three courses with wine, water and bread - about £30 for two!!)
