Reviews Of Alixares Hotel, Granada,

Review by: Strongly recommended, Germantown, United States

Stayed: Aug 2009

We strongly recommend this hotel. We stayed at the Alixares Generalife middle of August, 2009. This is, as stated, a 4-star hotel. For 2 nights we paid $220 for three beds, which is as good as it can get. It is within a 5-minute walking distance to the entrance to the Alhambra.

There are frequent buses that take you to the downtown part of Granada from here and you also get taxis.

The hotel has a rooftop restaurant which was not pricey at all considering the quality and location. Dinner to the sounds of the evening shows coming out of the Alhambra make it memorable. Hotel staff were able to get me tickets to special events at Alhambra even after they had been sold out at the booth. Very helpful staff, and speak good English.

Room and bathroom was clean and modern enough. The room was reasonably spacious.

this place was a pleasant surprise, everything about it was great.the staff was freindly and helpful, the food was great and the setting was lovely. I should point out that it was great for us as we were only there to go to the Alhambra,(the hotel is almost opposite) it is however away from the town, which is a bus ride away. The prices were also very reasonable

Having stayed at this hotel in February and thoroughly enjoyed it, we decided to go back in summer. We were not disappointed as the facilities, service and weather were fantastic! The hotel has a great swimming pool which doesn't get crowded. The only critisism was that there were raised tiles around the pool which were the same colour as the rest so you could not see the step easily, and quite a few people tripped as they went to the edge of the pool.Needs some kind of marking around raised part. Apart from that the rest of hotel was excellent. Very good breakfast and evening buffet- help yourselves to as much as you like ( possible 5 courses) for 14 euros. Also a bar-b-que until 2a.m. every night on the 3rd floor patio, although this was quite expensive for what you got. Hotel well worth a visit!

I found the hotel, rooms, food to be of the highest quality. It was great to also have internet access while at the hotel. I would certainly recommend it to my friends and it more then met my expectations. The staff were helpful, pleasant and accomodating.

This elegant hotel is literally on the doorstep of the Alhambra. A must see in Granada but book ahead as numbers of daily entries are restricted and you really don't want to miss out. The hotel is clean & quiet with spacious, comfortable rooms and we had wonderful views of the snow-topped Sierra Nevadas. The buffet breakfast really set us up for the day as there was plenty of choice and plenty of everything. We had the buffet dinner on our first night for convenience but at only 14 euros each we did go again! The hotel staff were ALL friendly, efficient & helpful and the hotel suits all, young and old. Taxis are available into town but get on the bus instead! It's not only a euro but it adds to the holiday experience! Mix with the locals! We have no complaints at all.

VERY IMPRESSED BY ALL ASPECTS OF HOTEL. GOOD POSITION ALTHOUGH ON A HILL SO NOT SUITABLE FOR THOSE WITH WALKING DIFFICULTIES. ROOM WAS CLEAN NICELY DECORATED AND SPACIOUS. STAFF IN HOTEL VERY HELPFUL AND FRIENDLY. BREAKFAST WAS EXCELLENT, BUFFET STYLE AND PLENTY OF SELECTION AND QUANTITY. WE FOUND THE EVENING MEAL ALSO EXCELLENT VALUE AT JUST 14 EUROS FOR A HOT AND COLD BUFFET EAT AS MUCH AS YOU LIKE. THE HOTEL IS POSITIONED JUST 2 MINS FROM ALHAMBRA PALACE AND 15 MIN WALK TO THE TOWN CENTRE. BUSES RUN TO JUST OUTSIDE THE HOTEL FOR 1 EURO. WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE HOTEL TO ALL THOSE VISITNG GRANADA, AND WILL DEFINATELY BE RE-VISITING THERE OURSELVES NEXT YEAR.

After a disappointing arrival- slow checkin and offhand service- reception staff became very pleasant and helpful.
Our room was large and clean with bath and shower. The view was very pleasant.
Breakfast excellent and the evening buffet at 14 euros very good value.
Good position for the Alhambra. Frequent buses to town and other places of interest at 1 euro.

The Alixares was great value for money and it exceeded our expectations. Breakfast was included in the price, which is quite unusual, and there was lots of choice (hot and cold options). One the day of our arrival we chose to have the three course lunch in the restaurant and this was also good value for money. We spent two very pleasant evenings in the rooftop barbecue area (good views) and the food here was reasonably priced and freshly preapared. Snack food could also be purchased throughout the day and evening at the bar. Our room was spacious, comfortable and quiet. Having the outdoor swimming pool was a real bonus and there were plently of sun loungers and showers. The hotel's very close proximity to the Alhambra is another bonus and the local bus, which runs very frequently, gets you to and from the city centre in a matter of less than ten minutes - although the ride can be a bit hairy! The staff at the front desk were always helpful and courteous. We would stay at the Alixares again and would recommend it to others.
